About Summer League
WUDi Summer League consists of two leagues: Coed Draft and Rec. Both leagues play at SUNY Purchase in Purchase, NY. Draft league plays twice per week, and is a competitive league that attracts players of every level, from college players to Nationals-level club players. Rec league plays once per week and offers a more casual, social, and instructional experience while still playing quality games of Ultimate. See below for more detailed descriptions of each league.
WUDi Summer League has played every summer since 1983 with the exception of the pandemic-affected 2020 season.
Coed Draft League
The Coed Draft League is a very competitive league known for its high level of play and fun. The league consists of a 20-22 game season, culminating in a championship tournament in which all teams play, running from late-May to mid-August.
Team rosters for the Draft Leagues are determined through — you guessed it — a draft, with team captains selecting their rosters. Due to a limited number of spots in the Coed Draft League, we cannot guarantee a spot for everyone wishing to join. Those who are not offered a spot in the Coed Draft League will be offered a spot in the Rec League (see below). The league will maintain a 4/3 gender ratio so long as the number of registered players supports that ratio.
Draft League games are held at SUNY Purchase in Westchester County, NY on Monday and Wednesday evenings, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Rec League
The Rec League is a semi-competitive co-ed league where the level of play is more casual than the Draft League. The Rec League is ideal for novices and casual ultimate players as well as skilled players who would like to play as mentors. The league typically has six to eight teams and culminates in a championship tournament in which all teams play.
Teams for Rec league are determined through a modified draft where the goal is parity throughout the league. Thus, in Rec League, you may request to play with a friend. Enter your request in the Baggage section of the registration form and have them do the same. It may not be possible to honor all requests, but we will try.
Games for Rec League are also held at SUNY Purchase in Westchester County, NY on Thursday evenings, starting at 6:30 p.m.
