About Us

Welcome to Westchester Ultimate Disc, inc., serving the disc-related needs of the greater New York City area.

WUDi is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting and supporting Ultimate Frisbee and other disc-related sports in the Westchester, Rockland, and Fairfield county areas as well as the greater New York metro area. Through a variety of events, WUDi fosters the development of both the sport and the individuals involved.

Our Commitments

As members of the WUDI Community, we are committed to Inclusion and Safety. WUDI offers a unique opportunity for a wide range of players to share the field. From beginner to seasoned veteran and professional level to casual pickup, we all devote our time and resources to participate in WUDI, so it is essential that all players feel safe and included while also having the opportunity to play competitively and have fun.

Inclusion

  • We welcome players of all backgrounds and identities
  • We share pronouns and use gender-inclusive language such as "you all" and "everyone"
  • We actively create equitable playtime and utilize all our teammates regardless of gender identity, ability, or skill level
  • We consciously make space on the field so that all our teammates can contribute
  • We respectfully approach teachable moments to give feedback to both newer and experienced players
  • We elevate our teammates and opponents by celebrating everyone’s wins and respecting everyone’s losses

Safety

  • We are committed to playing by the rules without resorting to hostility or violence and talk to our opponents respectfully to resolve the situation
  • We maintain body control and refrain from making dangerous plays.
    • We prioritize player safety over making a play on the disc
    • We make plays that minimize incidental/minor contact
    • We do not layout into or run through other players
    • We do not make plays that interfere with another player's vertical space
    • We take particular precautions making plays where other players involved may be unaware of our presence and would be blindsided
  • We take full responsibility for any children or pets we bring to games. This means:
    • Ensuring all children and pets are set up at appropriate distances from the sideline and do not interfere with the playing field during games
    • Keeping children and pets at safe distances from each other
  • We keep an eye out for and raise concerns with each other when we see signs of dehydration, heatstroke, concussion, or other injuries. All injuries and illnesses should be reported to captains and league coordinators.
