Results from WSL 2010 Rec Championships

During Saturdays Rec finals we had a nice day, with clear skies and just enough periodic wind to make it interesting.  The format for finals was 2 pools of 3 teams with the top 2 teams in each pool advancing to the semis.  Our first games pitted Blue against Forest and Black against White.  The veteren Blue team was able to beat the athletic Forest team.  The Black team beat the White team by 2 points in a very defense oriented game.

Our second round games pitted Orange against White in which Orange won.  The other game pitted Forest against Red, Forest zoomed out to an early lead and held on to win becoming 2-0 in there pool and automaticly advancing, as the Blue captain predicted.

The third round pitted Red agains Forest with the winner advancing,  Red endedup winning this game.  In the other pool Orange played Black in a game to determine the pools winner with Black winning making them 2-0 in pool play.

Next was the 2nd Annual Fred Lyons Spirit Award was presented, with the winner being Susan Newman.

We next had the Semi finals with Blue playing Orange and Blue prevailing to advance to the finals.  The other Semi pitted Black against Red in a rematch of there last regular sesion game, which had Red win on Universe, but this time Black prevailed.

With the finals set pitting Black and Blue (insert joke here).  This was a tight game the whole way though with the first half ending with Black up one point.  Possibly the most exciting part of the first half was seeing the leagues two youngest memeber (playing savage) scoring almost all their teams points in the half, Luke Stone and Ben Lewis.  In the second half the game continued to be a tight fought contest with the game coming down to universe point, Blue pulling to Black, Black made a quick bomb down the field to score and win.

Thanks again to everyone who helped make this a fun sucessful year.
