New Registration Policy in place for WSL 2010

We have also created a CORE concept for the Open Division in the hopes of having better attendance at league games and playoffs. This is not meant for club teams to register a CORE and use summer league as an opportunity to scrimmage and potentially rout other teams. The WUDi board may modify COREs to try and create parity between the teams, and we will do our best to preserve COREs that register together. All members of the CORE must complete registration, including payment, by the registration deadline.

Registration Policy 2010

  1. Certain people will have the ability to register 48 hours before we open registration to the whole world. This group will include:
    • Current elected board members
    • Current Advisor, which includes:
      • All three division Coordinators (Coed, Open, and Rec)
      • Webmaster
      • Corporate Attorney
      • Merchandise Coordinator
      • Advisors listed on the WUDi website
    • All previously elected board members
    • All captains from the past 3 summers (i.e. captains from all three divisions from WSL 2007, 2008, and 2009 get the early option for 2010)
    • Volunteers who help WUDi plan and run events, such as clinics, hat tourneys, etc. (these people will be determined by the elected board members)
  2. Each Open captain may register with a CORE of players for his roster. Each CORE will have the following rules:
    • No more than 10 players
    • One player must act as a captain (send out emails, call subs, bring cones, and attend to all the regular captain duties)
    • The WUDi Board along with the Open Coordinator retain the ability to reject or modify a CORE
    • The CORE will count as the captain's draft picks for the first few rounds (number of rounds skipped = number of players in the CORE)
    • After all COREs have been submitted, the rosters will be completed at the draft
  3. Veteran status will be maintained for WSL 2010 with the same policy as in previous years. All people that have played from Co-ed, Open and/or Rec in a previous summer are considered "veterans." WSL 2010 will be the last year for Veteran status. As of WSL 2011, registration will be done on a first-come first-serve basis, with returning WUDi members and new WUDi members being treated the same. The only exception to this will be as listed in item #1 above.

Can't wait for summer!

Will player rankings and the corresponding draft restrictions still apply for Open or will it become a true draft with the addition of this CORE concept?

Yes, draft rankings will still apply. Things are going to get a little tricky with Open, as the CORE players will count toward a team's allotment, but Jim and company will figure it all out.
