Worried about getting drafted on a team you don't like this year? Worried about ending up on a team where only you and four of five others show up every week?

Want to play summer league but only if you can be on the same team with your friends, family or pastor?

Dodge the draft!  Get your Core together!

There is a new concept in WSL this year: the Core.  Here is what the Core concept is and what it means for you.  The Open division of WSL is welcoming groups of players of any size up to 10, to come and register as a core.  This core will form the basis of one Open team and will need to have a captain.  The remaining players needed to fill out the roster may be obtained in the draft.

In simple terms this means that anyone out there that has a friend or two or nine that they want to play summer league on the same team with, can.  This is the baggage rule gone bananas.  

For anyone out there that has a group of people you like teaming up with, this is your chance.  

For all you WSL first timers that don't know anyone in the league but have a bunch of friends or old teammates you'd like to play with, this is your chance.  Gather who you already know then solicit for ringers.  (I think I will be posting a solicitation of my own on the forum as soon as I'm done here) 

For anyone out there that wants to captain, but don't feel you will do well in the draft, this is your chance - put your own team together without the draft.

Even if an individual isn't interested in captaining but has a group to play with, they can see if someone within their group will assume the role of captain.  Co-captaining is allowed.    

As a reminder, Open does not mean male only.  Open means open.  It only means there are no gender ratio requirements.

So get your core together!  There is still time but it's short.  Registration ends May 7. Dodge the draft!  (or at least most of the worst of it)
Note:  As I understand it Wudi will retain the right to disband Sockeye starting 7 type cores.
